NIPSS ICT Unit
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Unit is at the heart of digital innovation and support at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS). The ICT Unit provides technological backbone that enables smooth learning, teaching, and administration across the Institute.
Some ICT Tasks
· Network Management
We manage and maintain both wired and wireless networks, ensuring reliable and secure internet connectivity across the Institute. This keeps participants and staff connected at all times.
· Teaching & Capacity Building
We lecture Senior Executive Course (SEC) participants to equip them with essential computer skills and modern digital competencies. These sessions enable them to operate smoothly during their stay at NIPSS and empower them with practical skills they can apply in their professional roles beyond the Institute.
· Technical Support
We provide continuous technical support to staff and participants, ensuring that devices, systems, and applications run efficiently to support academic and administrative activities.
· Audio-Visual & Virtual Learning
We manage audio-visual systems for lectures, and official events. In addition, we support virtual learning through platforms such as Zoom, thereby extending the Institute’s reach and creating a blended learning environment for participants.
· Online Classroom Management
We administer the Institute’s online classroom platform, where participants can access information, lectures, course materials, and submit all materials required of them.
· Web Management
We oversee the Institute’s official website, ensuring it remains functional, user-friendly, and updated with relevant information that reflects the vision and activities of NIPSS.
· Social Media Management
We manage the Institute’s social media platforms to enhance visibility, foster engagement, and project NIPSS activities to wider national and international audiences.
NIPSS Children Annual Tech Training
Beyond supporting the Institute’s core mandate, the ICT Unit also drives innovation through the NIPSS Children Annual Tech Training, which we proudly hosted for the fourth time this year. This training, which is part of NIPSS Community Social Responsibility, is an initiative of the Director General, Prof. Ayo Omotayo. The 2025 edition was highly successful, exposing young learners (ages 8–18) to digital skills, creativity, and problem-solving using technology.
The training culminated in exciting final projects, including the Agro Yield App, an innovative solution that leverages machine learning to help improve agricultural yield. This project and others demonstrated the remarkable creativity of the young participants and reinforced the role of technology in addressing real-life challenges.
Notable Achievements (2025)
With the strong support of the Director-General, the Studies Directorate, and other Directorates of the Institute, the ICT Unit successfully introduced and managed new digital innovations this year. Some of the achievements include:
- Launching and driving the classroom digital platform for SEC participants for the very first time.
- Running the first Crisis Game Communication digitally, ensuring a seamless and modernized experience.
- Conducting the SEC Election digitally for the first time, making the process faster, more transparent, and efficient.
These achievements were made possible because the leadership and directorates desired technology-driven advancement, and the ICT Unit was privileged to support them in making this vision a reality.
Our Commitment & Outlook
Looking ahead, our vision is to gradually digitize the Institute and move toward a paperless environment. With the continued encouragement and backing of the Director General, Directorates, and Departments, we remain committed to supporting NIPSS in harnessing technology for academic excellence, policy research, and administrative efficiency.
The ICT Team
The ICT Unit’s strength lies in the people who dedicate their energy to serving the Institute. The team is led by Isaiah Olayode Ojebisi (Head, ICT), with the support of Gold Ochim, Esther Gyang, Aliyu Mohammad, Bunmi Fajonyomi, Nelson Bakfur, Usman Lawan, Hauwa Abubakar, as well as National Youth Service Corps members and IT students who contribute immensely to our work.
We also acknowledge the support of external partners, consultants, and resource persons who have worked with us at different times to strengthen our systems and enrich our capacity. Their collaboration has been invaluable in helping us deliver on our responsibilities to the Institute.
