NIPSS SEEKS SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN’S EDUCATION CENTRE AS LAI MOHAMMED DONATES BOOKS

The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, has called for support from stakeholders to advance the development of its Children’s Education Resource Centre, as former Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, donated copies of his book to the Institute’s library.
The donation, which took place on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, featured Mohammed’s book titled Headlines and Soundbites: Media Moments That Defined an Administration, a work aimed at clarifying public misconceptions and serving as a reference guide for emerging leaders in governance and public communication.
Delivering the welcome remarks on behalf of the Director-General, Professor Ayo Omotayo, the Acting Director of Studies, Barrister Nima Salman Mann, expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a meaningful contribution to the Institute’s knowledge base and intellectual tradition. He noted that NIPSS, as a foremost policy think tank, depends on such interventions to strengthen its repository and support evidence-based leadership training.
He also highlighted the Institute’s Children’s Education Resource Centre, an emerging initiative aimed at nurturing young minds and promoting a culture of reading from an early age. He called on individuals, organisations, and development partners to support the equipping and full take-off of the Centre, stressing that such collaboration would extend the impact of the Institute beyond its traditional mandate.
In his remarks, Lai Mohammed shared insights from his book, reflecting on the complexities of governance and the often unpredictable nature of political communication within the corridors of power. He emphasised the importance of strategic messaging, clarity, and resilience in public service.
The Acting Institute Librarian, Professor Lily Ezeala, in her vote of thanks, commended the former minister for the donation, noting its significant academic and cultural value, particularly within the context of indigenous knowledge and scholarly resource development.
As part of the visit, Lai Mohammed also delivered a lecture titled 'Governance, Public Communication and Leadership' to participants in Senior Executive Course (SEC) 48, where he engaged them on the interplay among policy, media, and effective leadership in contemporary governance.
