NIPSS Alumnus Olufemi Awoyemi Reflects on Transformative Leadership Experience at the National Institute

A Chartered Accountant and Founder of Proshare Limited, Olufemi Awoyemi, mni, has described his participation in the programme of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, as a defining moment in his leadership journey and understanding of Nigeria’s governance system.

Awoyemi made this known during an interview with NIPSS Television, broadcast via NTA News 24, on Monday, 9 March 2026, where he reflected on his motivation for attending the Institute and the impact the experience had on his personal and professional outlook.

According to him, his leadership aspirations required a deeper interrogation of the policy and strategic frameworks that shape how Nigeria is governed. This, he explained, informed his decision to enrol in the Institute’s programme.

He noted that his time at NIPSS provided an opportunity to immerse himself in learning and gain deeper insight into the structures and processes through which the country functions.

Awoyemi described the Institute as a unique environment that combines rigorous intellectual engagement with practical exposure to national issues.

He particularly highlighted the discipline and structure of the programme, as well as the richness of interactions among participants and the calibre of resource persons who deliver lectures from various sectors of society.

According to him, the diversity of perspectives shared during the programme enables participants to examine national challenges from multiple angles while developing strategic approaches to addressing them.

Reflecting on how the experience impacted his life and career, Awoyemi said his time at the Institute fundamentally changed his outlook.

“Everything changed,” he said, adding that beyond the formal learning process, there is an underlying message that participants internalise during their time at the Institute.

He explained that the unspoken message is the need to cultivate a deep sense of love, responsibility and appreciation for Nigeria.

Awoyemi added that the NIPSS experience strengthens participants’ commitment to national development and encourages them to apply strategic thinking and leadership in addressing the country’s challenges.

Through platforms such as NIPSS Television, the Institute continues to highlight the experiences and perspectives of its alumni whose leadership journeys have been shaped by the strategic learning and policy engagement that define the NIPSS programme.
