NIPSS Organises Brainstorming Session on Nigeria’s National Security Challenges.

The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, on Tuesday, 9 February 2026, organised a high-level brainstorming session focused on Nigeria’s evolving national security challenges.
The session, held at the Research Directorate of the Institute, was convened in response to the directive of Mr President, Bola ahmed Tinubu, issued during the Presidential parley with the Management, Staff, and Participants of the Institute on 10 December 2025, in which he tasked NIPSS with generating practical, forward-looking policy ideas to strengthen Nigeria’s national security architecture.
The brainstorming session brought together scholars, policy actors, security experts and other key stakeholders, who engaged in rigorous deliberations on both internal and external security threats confronting the nation, as well as institutional, strategic, and governance responses required to address them.
The outcome of the session will be synthesised into a comprehensive policy brief to be submitted to the Presidency, in line with the Institute’s mandate of providing evidence-based policy advice in support of national development and security.
