This presentation marks the culmination of a rigorous 10-month programme involving intensive research, study tours, high-level engagements, and in-depth policy analysis under the theme:

Throughout the programme, the participants conducted a comprehensive assessment of Nigeria’s marine and freshwater resources, examining their economic potential while identifying structural constraints that hinder growth. The report presented today offers strategic, actionable recommendations designed to strengthen governance, stimulate innovation, improve port and coastal infrastructure, and enhance environmental sustainability across Nigeria’s blue economy sector.
Led by the Director-General of NIPSS, Professor Ayo Omotayo, the delegation emphasized the urgent need to modernize maritime operations, protect marine ecosystems, and adopt forward-looking policies capable of positioning Nigeria as a competitive blue economy hub.
In his remarks, Senator Kashim Shettima commended the participants for the depth and quality of their research. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to economic diversification, sustainable resource management, and continued collaboration with institutions like NIPSS in shaping evidence-based national policies.
With the successful submission of the Presidential Parley Report, SEC 47 has officially completed its programme and now proceeds into the broader arena of national service armed with advanced strategic insights and renewed dedication to Nigeria’s sustainable development goals.
