The retreat, held at the Reiz Continental Hotel, Abuja, from February 18 to 19, brought together key stakeholders, policymakers, and members of the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI) to deliberate on the institution’s long-term vision and direction. The strategic planning session aims to refine NIPSS’s roadmap for policy research, leadership training, and national development initiatives over the next five years. Participants engaged in discussions on governance, security, economic transformation, and sustainable development, aligning NIPSS’s objectives with Nigeria’s broader policy goals.
In his opening remarks, the Director General of NIPSS, Professor Ayo Omotayo emphasized the institute’s critical role in shaping policy formulation and implementation, urging participants to contribute innovative ideas that would enhance Nigeria’s strategic leadership. Representatives from government agencies, academia, and the private sector also shared insights on how the new strategic plan could address emerging national and global challenges.
The retreat, held in collaboration with AANI, reinforces the commitment of NIPSS to fostering strategic thinking and policy effectiveness in governance. As Nigeria navigates complex socio-economic and political landscapes, the outcome of this retreat is expected to guide NIPSS in providing actionable policy recommendations for national progress.
The finalized Strategic Plan (2025-2029) will serve as a blueprint for NIPSS’s activities in research, training, and capacity building, ensuring its continued relevance in Nigeria’s policy and leadership development ecosystem.
